Drain the tank, didn't vent properly, 14.7psi over that much area is a hell of a lot of force. Well over a million and a half pounds distributed over the whole thing, if I did my math right.

Just creating a vacuum in a train trailer that's being scrapped.

I'm pretty sure, at least in this instance, that it was intentional.

I found a reddit thread pertaining to the video this gif was made from and there was a suggestion that the tank was collapsed by a "steam-out". The author of that thread talks about what would happen if it was drained and basically the pressure gets so low inside the tank that the fluid starts to boil keeping the pressure up to it's vapor pressure.

Oh, sure. It's just very easy to do by accident, and the magnitude of the forces involved are a bit of a "holy shit" to someone who hasn't thought about it.

Yeah, first time I saw a hopper that size get emptied of cement in under 8 minutes was definitely an eye opener.
Pneumatics can be VERY scary.

Yeah, the fluid can boil, but that only goes so far.

It looks like it's CGI but it's not! (Unless it's some corporate-made video trying to be viral and actually is CGI...)
